Update regarding Parent Portal + Orientation Recording

Hi Parents,

You are seeing this message under the blog postings because I am completing the update to the Parent Portal. In addition to all of the previous features, the new portal will allow to add other family members to LUNCH Points and for accessing courses. Also, while we have never encountered a security issue with the older system, the new one is more secure and meets HIPAA compliance standards.

Please contact me directly if you have any questions.

Group Update - All Groups

Hi Parents,

This message is being sent to all families, including those who have already attended the orientation. We are modifying the parent portal to make it more secure, useful and user-friendly. The update will be completed by this weekend and you will receive complete instructions on the new version. Once the portal is completed, we will be able to add multiple adults (e.g., two parents), something that has been requested for some time. You will be able to use it for LUNCH Points and other activities. More to follow.

We've had several last-minute families wish to join our groups, which has been exciting and also time-consuming. That process is nearly at an end.

Program Update - All Groups

Dear Parents,

Lots going on as we prepare for starting Groups 1 and 3 next week (Group 1 starts Tuesday and Group 3 begins on Wednesday). All groups start at 4pm with drop off and pick up at Gelsons market.

Orientation
There is an orientation webinar tonight at 7pm which is being recorded. So, if you missed last week's live orientation and cannot attend either one during the weekend of October 12, this will be helpful.

Parent Competency Review
I have created an online review containing 20 questions that all parents must complete. This will assure that you have a basic understanding to help support your child as they begin the program. It will arrive by tomorrow.

News About Sophie
I wanted to let you know that we lost Sophie, the office therapy dog, over the summer. She passed away after being diagnosed with a brain tumor that could not be treated. While some of you did not know her, there are about 30 families coming whose children saw her regularly. She is very much missed, but I am heartened by the fact she helped desensitize over 400 children during her ten years coming to the office and was a gentle companion to even more.

Looking Ahead
Dr. Mazor and I are very much looking forward to seeing your children and continuing/starting up. All of our groups are nearly filled. At this point, we are holding the few remaining spots for additional females.

Please feel free to email me anytime with questions or thoughts. Now entering our 17th year, I think we have a nicely balanced group of children and teens.

Welcome 2019-20 School Year Families!

Introduction

Welcome to our soon-to-begin School Year Programs!

We have been working diligently to complete our final assessments and prepare for the upcoming School Year programs. There are a total of four groups, each meeting twice monthly, except when holidays impact the schedule (make up days will offered, to be scheduled once the groups begin). Groups 1 and 2 go out for a snack each session and Groups 3 and 4 go out to dinner.

Please read below. This contains important information that will introduce you to our schedule and parent preparation meetings to fully prepare you so you and your child can make the most of the program.

Orientation Meetings & Review Information

All new parents are expected to attend a live orientation. It is required that one parent attend, but both parents are invited and can attend the same session or different sessions.

If you are a returning family (Alumni), you will be sent a self-paced course you can review. All parents must complete a basic review covering the basic elements of group.

Groups 1 and 2

For Groups 1 and 2, this has been scheduled for Saturday, 9/21 and Sunday, 9/22 from 10:30am to noon (Note, this is shorter than previous orientations).

Groups 3 and 4

For Groups 3 and 4, this has been scheduled for Saturday, 10/12 and Sunday, 10/13 from 10:30am to noon (Note, this is shorter than previous orientations).

What if I cannot make either?

Send me an email and you may participate in a live webinar covering this information. If you are a new family, you must attend either the live meeting or the live webinar in order for your child to attend the program. If you are a returning family, attending is optional, but you must either take the online course or the basic review. Please RSVP by clicking here.
